This is our first separation from Felix Morocho. As always, lots from this project are extremely small and full of love and passion. In the cup we find eucalyptus, nectarine, and white tea.

Hand-picked at peak ripeness. Floated to further remove defects. Held in-cherry overnight. De-pulped. Dry-fermented for 36 hours. Washed. Dried on raised beds until moisture content reaches 10.5%.
We have been drawn to Ecuadorian Mejorado from the beginning of our sourcing journey. This is our first time purchasing a lot separation from Felix Morocho, though our experience with this region and variety goes back years. It remains extremely challenging to build meaningful volume from this project, but the quality and profiles make it well worth the effort.
Mejorado is a very unique variety mainly grown in Ecuador. Though it is colloquially known as Typica Mejorado, we now know—thanks to genetic testing by World Coffee Research—that it is actually a Bourbon variety cross-pollinated with an Ethiopian Landrace variety.
The cost of getting a coffee from cherry to beverage varies enormously depending on its place of origin and the location of its consumption. The inclusion of price transparency is a starting point to inform broader conversation around the true costs of production and the sustainability of specialty coffee as a whole.
